
Issy is a Health Improvement Principal, specialising in using behavioural change theory and practice to promote public health and wellbeing in Sheffield.
She has over 30 years-experience of working in Local Government in – HR, Equalities, Training, Community and Democratic Engagement, Empowerment, Neighbourhood Regeneration, Community Asset Management and Strategic Partnerships. Passionate about learning and development she has been a direct trainer, developing and delivering programmes on equalities, motivational conversations/MI and Mental Health First Aid.
Currently she is subject matter specialist on the use of evidence based behavioural change techniques and facilitating application throughout Sheffield City Council. Knowing that everyday activity is fundamental to wellbeing for all ages, she recently helped develop and work with 5 other Councils on an LGA sponsored research study. The study explored barriers and facilitators to active short, local journeys and developed a successful motivational intervention aimed at adding value to infrastructure and other interventions. Currently she is working with transport planning colleagues and Councillors on other evidence-based ways to enable sustainable, active travel.
An alumni of Sheffield Hallam University, (BA Business Studies, Sandwich Course); She is also a harmony singer and passionate outdoor swimmer. Her voluntary work includes advocating for wider access to in-land blue spaces for wellbeing and liveable streets.
